Lens Fitting and Assessments

Lens Fitting and Assessment to ensure continued comfort and safetyPrior to fitting any type of lens, we would recommend a full eye examination. This will be followed by a contact lens assessment where the front surface of the eye, eyelids, tears and other structures are examined in more detail.

If all is well, a suitable pair of lenses of the required type is fitted, allowed to settle and the performance and fit evaluated. If we are both still happy at this stage, full tuition will be given on insertion and removal of the lenses and lens wear and care. About two hours should be allowed for this appointment. An extended trial can then commence so you can try the lenses at home and at work to ensure their suitability. The length of this trial and the suitability fees charged depends on the type of lens and the modality (how often you wear them), but all of this will be discussed with you on the initial visit.

Proper continuing aftercare is of paramount importance with any type of contact lens, to ensure the highest possible standards of comfort and safety. We also operate an out-of-hours support service.

There are no real age limits with contact lens wear with the age of wearers ranging from 8 - 90+. We just need you to have the ability to look after them and handle them yourself.
